Wanshu Qiu was born in Sichuan, China, in 1998. Although she started to play violin, she has specialised in viola since the age of 15. She finished her Bachelor’s Degree in Music with Honours at the Royal Northern College of Music in 2021, and was than granted a full scholarship by the Royal Academy of Music to continue with a Master’s in Performance. She is supported by the British Council. Her professors include Jon Thorne, Susie Meszaros, and Veit Hertenstein. She has performed at the Manchester’s International Festival and with the Nash ensemble at Wigmore Hall, premiering several pieces. She currently works closely with various composers in solo pieces and ensemble commissions that will be played in 2022-2023.
