About Us

The Clitheroe Concerts Society is a dedicated group committed to enriching the cultural life of the Ribble Valley through exceptional chamber music performances.

Since its establishment in 1952, the society has presented a diverse range of concerts featuring both renowned international artists and promising young musicians. By showcasing a repertoire spanning centuries, from the Baroque era to contemporary compositions, the society aims to cultivate a deeper appreciation for classical music within the community.

Chamber music is a cornerstone of classical music, offering a unique and intimate musical experience.

Performed by a small ensemble of typically four to nine musicians, it demands exceptional musicianship, collaboration, and a deep understanding of the music. This collaborative nature fosters a profound connection between performers and audience, allowing for a nuanced exploration of the composer’s intent. Chamber music showcases the individual brilliance of each musician while highlighting the beauty of harmonious interplay, creating a truly captivating and enriching listening experience.

Our concerts are held in either of our 2 locations in Clitheroe. Both venues boast exceptional acoustics, ensuring that every note is heard with crystal clarity.

For the forthcoming season 2024 – 2025, the Annual Membership Subscription is £90 per person covering all six concerts. This is a £30 saving per year, as each Concert is £20 per person when purchased individually.

Young people under the age of 18 and accompanied by a Member or a paying adult are free of charge.

Our ability to give this great value is due, in no small measure, to the generosity of those members who make a donation in addition to their annual subscription. Please consider doing so if you can afford it; if Gift Aided even better. Please submit your completed membership application form and payment first.

Those who were members in the previous season or have asked to be added to the members’ list will receive a Membership Pack before the new season starts. Others should use the links below or, if they wish to pay by cheque, please click Membership Secretary to be sent instructions.

In addition, each Member would be entitled to bring a guest to a single concert for free to encourage new members.
