The Duo Teresa Carreño is one of the leading Venezuelan ensembles in the UK. They formed in 2005 with recitals in Switzerland and Venezuela.Their wide repertoire includes most of the classical and romantic masterpieces for cello and piano, but also, they are passionate about promoting contemporary and Latin American repertoire that has been unjustly neglected. In 2008 the Duo Teresa Carreño won ithe ‘Concordia Foundation Award’ being invited to perform in prestigious venues such as St James’s Piccadilly and St Martin-in-the Fields.

The ensemble takes its name and inspiration from a renowned Venezuelan pianist, who was considered one of the greatest in the world at the end of the 19th century. Teresa Carreño met and worked with some of the leading European musicians and composers of her time such as Rossini, Liszt, Rubinstein and Brahms.

In Venezuela and the UK, they have performed in prestigious Festivals and concert venues such as Festival y Academia Nuevo Mundo and Humboldt Association (Venezuela), Bloomsbury Arts and Music Festival, Cheltenham Town Hall. They have recently made their Germany debut concert in the St. Matthaus Kirche (Kulturforum, Berlin), with an acclaimed response from the audience and critics. As Venezuelans, they are privileged to work with El Sistema, both as performers and teachers in different parts of the country.
