Our Logo

This water colour of Clitheroe Castle, with Bawdlands in the foreground, was painted by local artist Elizabeth Foster. A grey-scale version was used on the society’s programme covers in the two seasons 1988-89 and 1989-90 but the subtleties of the water colour did not translate well into this format. In 1990 she therefore produced the line-drawing which has been used by the Society as its logo ever since. The original painting  is now in the possession of Society Chairman, Tony Cooper. In recognition of her many years of service to the Society, Betty was made an Honorary Member in 2012. Sadly, she passed away in 2017.
