If possible please use the Gift Aid option. This scheme is for gifts of money by individuals who pay UK tax. Gift Aid donations are regarded as having basic rate tax deducted by the donor. As a Registered Charity, Clitheroe Concerts Society (No. 1006818) will take your donation – which is money you have already paid tax on – and reclaim the basic rate tax from HMRC on its ‘gross’ equivalent – the amount before basic rate tax was deducted. Basic rate tax is 20 per cent, so this means that if you give £10 using Gift Aid, it’s worth £12.50 to the Society and so on pro rata.

Making a donation by Gift Aid is particularly tax efficient for those of you who may be Higher Rate Tax Payers. You can claim the difference between the higher rate of tax (40%) and the basic rate of tax (20%) on the total (gross) value of your donation to the charity. For example, if you donate £100, the total value of your donation to the charity is £125, so you can claim back 20 per cent of this (£25) for yourself. Make this claim on your tax return. For more information visit www.hmrc.gov.uk/individuals/giving/gift-aid.htm

After you have entered your credit / debit card details you are shown a screen which asks you to review your donation. To allow the Society to claim the Gift Aid, all you have to do is click on the option that says “Gift Aid? – Please type yes or no below“, then just type “yes” and complete the transaction.

The two screen shots below show you what to expect after you have clicked the orange donate button above.
